I'm not phoning any of them again, going to deal with everything in writing.

I really need to get this sorted though.

I've recently separated from my husband and before we can finalise our finances with a separation agreement

we need to know whether we are going to have to pay this £3000 debt or not.

For this we need something in writing so ignoring it isn't an option.

I really need advice on what to do.

Do I still send the SAR to Egg? - yes

Would it help to send one to Wescot/Arrow if they have bought the debt? - no

Do I challenge the CCA they've sent me seen as it's not compliant? - no you don't tell them

Or should I chance sending the Statute Barred letter

and put the onus on them to prove I've paid/acknowledged the debt within the last 5 years. - no only if they issue court papers.

Between this and my marriage breakdown it's making me sick with worry,

I'm already suffering from depression and really struggling just now.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I sent the SAR to Egg with the £10 enclosed.

I've received a letter today saying the address they have on record doesn't match my current address

so they need a bill/statement showing my current address.

I've lived here for the past 22 years so this can't possibly be right,

there's absolutely no way the debt goes back that far.

If they don't have my current address

how did the debt collection agencies know to write here?

Is this just a case of them stalling for time?

They have said the 40 days won't start until they get this information.

Thanks, that's what I'll do then.

One more question.

I phoned Canada Square operations about the SAR and their request for a document showing my current address.

All they've done is send me another letter asking the same again.

Should I write to them telling them (again) I've been at this address for 22 years?

The only documents I have in my name with my address on are bank statements,

everything else is in my partners name.

I'm a bit wary of giving them my bank details.

you don't have to give bank details

simply blot out all that you don't want

hem to see

your address and what bank it is

they don't need account details.
