I found this website on the Money saving expert website and have been looking to see which sort of bank charges I can ask my bank to repay me. I know that I can claim back the unpaid item fees and paid item fees, but i'm unsure about overdraft charges. I have and overdraft on my account and when I use it they charge £5 a month plus interest. Is this ok on the banks part or can I claim this back. Also for unauthorised overdraft charges they charge me £25 + interest. Can I ask them to pay this back or can I only do this if it was their charges that made me go over my overdraft in the first place.

Any charges which are penalties for exceeding agreed level of overdraft are potentially recoverable if they exceed the losses sustained by the bank as a result of your trangression.

You will have to check your contract and how the charges are appied to see what fits into this category
