A DCA has written to me regarding a debt and in the letter states "we've reviewed the information on your credit file to get an understanding of your financial situation"

They now are considering .. considering.. legal action - it hasn't been decided I realise that.

Am just wondering what the credit file review actually tells them.

For a start I am in constant overdraft with my bank and have credit card debt. These two options are keeping me afloat. There is hardly anything spare at the end of my month. I have and likely will again, have to juggle payments by missing one to pay another and then reversing it the next month.

nothing at all

simply willy waving to frighten you.

they are powerless.

if you current credit is still with the original creditors then no need to do anything, but if any debts have been sold to a dca, i question paying them anything.

how old is this card and how old is the OD? and the OC?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

the account is owned by lowell now.

my overdraft has been running for 2yrs ish.. and the credit card i've had since mid 2022.

The account bought by lowell relates to 2020. They have had it a while, several letters. Not replied to by me.

Am just thinking, I had missed 2 payments on a utility account and restarted with a slightly higher one to bring the account into as it should be. And noticed my credit rating had gone up by 2 points, it had lowered the month or two before, can this payment be anything to do with it?  I only know the credit rate difference as am sure it showed up when I logged into my bank.
