If you have home insurance or car insurance or are in the RAC or AA you may have legal insurance cover included. (Before the Event Insurance)

You may be able to get them to bear the costs of litigating against your bank.

I expect that the insurers would be a little reluctant to begin an action of this kind but we may be able to help you give them a little push

We would be pleased to assist anyone who would like to go down this route.

I haven't seen one of these contracts but I am quite sure that they wold not be bound under the terms of the contract to embark upon any litigation you fabcied.

They will definintely reserve to themselves the right to excercise their judgemnt as to the chances of success.

My experience of them is that they take a frustratingly conservative view and that they sometimes have to be cajoled and threatened.

Also, they are very find of writng letters and then waiting for far too long before taking the step of chasing a reply - the kind of thing which the bank like.

However, I have also found that they are not used to dealing with direct pressure from a customerand so more phoning and cajoling is quite effective.

The advantage is that the bank realises that you may be funded in your fight against them and may be more likely to to put their hands up.

For the ordinary kind of claim it shouldn't be necesary to involve your BEI but if you are nervous or it is a bit complex then it is an option.

I threatened to sue a BEI once. It produced a very rapid change of attitude
