Good Evening,

Like many, due to covid I have financial troubles. I am 35 days  behind with payments. I have received an email today from Storagemart stating their next course of action.

"The next step in our delinquency process is to forcibly enter the Unit and make an inventory and photograph the items within the Unit in preparation of sale at auction.

This is due on day 40 and incurs and additional £40 charge and of course renders your padlock obsolete. We will place one of our locks on the door along with a tamperproof seal when this is complete and notify you of the date set for the auction. "

I have every intention of paying the full amount owed, they have stated  that they will not accept part payments. I intend to  call them on Monday to reach some form of agreement but it would be extremely helpful if I knew my rights or had some useful information. Any help, suggestions or advice would be most appreciated.

What happens if my unit is auctioned?

It is not our intention to auction away your belongings. You will be notified multiple times before an auction occurs, so you have more than enough time to resolve your delinquency.

seems like this is the 1st time they've notified you? so looks like there might be a reasonable time buffer before this do actually happen?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

can you sell any items, so you can afford to pay them.

Even if you sold items for a reduced price you may lose less money than you would if all items in storage were sold at auction

We could do with some help from you.

How much do you owe?  How long does this figure represent?

That  is £425 per month? It seems an awful lot. It must be very large storage unit.

Have you got a copy of their terms and conditions. I think they call it a lease. If so please will you post up here in PDF format.

How long have you been a customer of theirs?

I have been with them nearly 2 years (October 2020).It has all of our worldly goods pretty much.

I don't have the Lease to hand but will post it on here early next week.

Thank you everyone for your time and efforts.

Well it's cost you about six grand a year. That's a huge amount.

Apparently you can access the lease by going into your account on their website.

He said that you want to pay part of it. How much are you proposing to pay them?
