Can someone advise on the corona virus grants offered by the government, to the self employed, as to if they count as income, and are taxable, or if they affect benefits.

I don't know the answer – but hopefully someone will step up and who does know the answer. However I can scarcely imagine that they're not taxable as income. For instance, if you are in receipt of these grants and then things went back to sort-of-normal before the end of the tax year and you started making money again, I can't imagine that you won't be taxed on the sum total of your receipts for that year

The council are also offering a grant relating to business premises, and rate payers who are receiving rate relief.
