I recently missed a payment of £11.99 from Xercise4Less. I then received this email from Harlands..

Dear (my name)

Harlands administer the collection of all payments due under your agreement with Xercise 4 Less. Your bank have advised us that your March instalment has been returned unpaid "refer to payer" as there were insufficient funds in the account to pay the amount due.

We will therefore debit your account on 4 APR 19 for the total amount of £36.99 made up as follows:

Instalment Amount £11.99
Administration Fee £25.00
Total Due £36.99
Please note that the submission for this will be made two working days prior to 4 APR 19 and if this date is not convenient, please contact us on the HARLANDS HELPLINE - 01444 449033.

Our lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday - Friday and from 9am to 12pm on Saturday. Thank you.

Once the submission has been made the debiting of your account cannot be stopped. You must ensure that sufficient funds are in the account to prevent further charges being made and possible default action being taken against you.

We trust you find this in order and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely
Harlands

This made me so angry charging me an admin fee for what?!?! I instantly cancelled my direct debit because I don't want them taking the money. I would have been perfectly happy going into my gym and paying off the £11.99 and leaving it as that. After I cancelled my dd I got another email from harlands saying this..

Dear (my name),

re: Your membership to Xercise 4 Less

Your bank have advised us that your Direct Debit Instruction has been cancelled which means we are unable to re-
submit for the missed instalment. You have incurred a further £ 25.00 administration fee and the total amount now

due to bring your account up to date is £ 61.99.

Please call the HARLANDS HELPLINE - 01444 449033 and we can collect this by DEBIT / CREDIT card and
reinstate your Direct Debit Instruction. If you wish to pay by another method you must still phone us to discuss your
options.

If you do not call us by 6 April 19 you will be charged a further £ 25.00 administration fee. Our lines are open 8am to 8pm

..

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Can someone guide me through this because I am not paying these STUPID admin fees. I will continue to ignore them they will not receive a penny from me.

Thanks.

Hi SW and welcome to CAG

Read other threads here and you should find a letter you can adapt, print and send to Harlands offering to pay the missed fee but no admin fees on top. The offer should be valid for 14 days only and if they fail to accept or demand admin fees, you consider the matter closed.

If you can't find one, I'll link you to one later when I have more time.

Can you also confirm :-

1. Date you joined the gym.

2. Was it a running monthly, or a 12 month m/ship agreement.

:-)

We could do with some help from you

That’s great Thank you. When you get the chance I’d love a copy of the letter.

I’m not 100% sure when I joined the gym. I’ve been a member for a few years.

I can confirm it was a monthly payment of £11.99

:)

Hi SW,

If you've been a member that long, you were on a rolling monthly agreement.

There are many example letters but I'll stop by later. If you've not found one, I'll link one for you ................

Can't find one so just send this :-

Dear Harlands/CRS,

I refer to the DD that was returned unpaid by my bank.

I will pay you the missed gym fee but I'm unwilling to pay any unlawful admin fees that you seek to charge.

Please confirm bank account details so I can pay the missed fee direct with a reference number.

My offer is valid for 14 days. If you fail to accept within this time or demand any amount higher than £11.99 my offer will be withdrawn. I will then not communicate with you further and will consider our relationship ended.

Yours sincerely,

Send this by typed letter and get a free Cert of Posting at the PO.

Let us know what happens and read other threads here so you can see what to do ..........
