Scott and Co came to my door about 2 old Parking fines

Hi All,

 

I just had 2 Scott n Co guys come to my door, asking my name, I gave it (stupidly)

 

they handed me a "Form of charge for payment of money" for 2 parking fines from 2014 and 2016, amounting to £180, but with extra charges now £259.10 (scored out, and pencilled in £261.16)

 

Says I (his name and address) Sheriff Officer, by virtue of the said penalty charge certificates....

 

If I don't pay in 14 days you are liable to have further action taken against you including 'arrestment of your earnings' and the auction of belongings to you.

 

- Is this legal? Surely not.

I live in Scotland.

 

Should i ignore them and speak to the council direct in a repayment scheme for the said fine?

it is quite legal yes.

and even if you had buffed them away the results would be FAR worse.

they CAN and WILL freeze your bank account and take your money.

 

they are NOT debt collectors, and sheriff officers have wide ranging and lethal powers in Scotland under Scottish laws/

No, not to my knowledge, I've just recently been getting my life back together after ditching a lot of the medication, didn't expect this.

go ring the council concerned

tell them you have received NO OTHER comms regarding these tickets,

see what they say

do it TODAY.

I wrote the Council a letter explaining the circumstances. Haven't heard a reply yet. Havent heard back from SnC either.
