Are the Text message appointment reminders for job seekers allowance appointment reminders, automatically sent?

Thanks

Why don't you ask the Job Centre advisor when you next see them ? It will be a setting on their system.

The current JSA system will be replaced in due course and Universal Credit which replaces it will be far more involving for Claimants and Job Centre advisors. Under UC, you will have more texts and online actions that need to be completed. The sanctions regime is much more efficiently applied than JSA.

If you can, you might want to take any part time job you can get your hands on, so you earn enough that JSA and UC are much easier on the claimant. Earn above about £350 a month and Job Centre Advisors apply a lighter touch regime to claimants.

We could do with some help from you.

Well, that's me stuffed then. I don't have a mobile phone, don't do texts, and I keep my online activities to a minimum. Although, despite being in a UC area, I wouldn't be able to claim anyway if/when the time comes as I fall in to one of the excluded groups

No... you can't eat my brain just yet. I need it a little while longer.

UC is a digital benefit system requiring online actions, with reminders/journal messages sent via text/email.

Yes there are some exclusions at the moment, but once the UC system is fully built, them some of the excluded groups might be included. If you search online for articles on the UC system, it is only about 60% built. Some of the exclusions might be because the UC system cannot yet deal with less standard benefit groups. Eventually over 7 million people will have a UC account registered.

Not quite sure where that has come from? Not more daily fail propaganda??

Unless they're going to issue all claimants with mobile phones and access to the internet then once again the corrupt rotten to the core DWP will fail and be hauled back through the courts.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Not Daily Fail unfortunately. Claimants will be expected to locate internet connectivity e.g library, job centre, where they don't have it at home ( if they have a home). They don't need to have a mobile phone, but they are encouraged to do so. I agree that DWP could supply a cheap phone with limited free phone/text credit added, but I think that would be difficult. Daily Fail would criticise such a freebie.

I take an interest in issues affecting homeless e.g access to benefits and if you search for details on Universal Credit Homeless, you will see that the charities that assist homeless people are concerned about how their clients will be affected by roll out of UC. They say that homeless vunerable people will be left without any benefit assistance, as they won't access online accounts and won't turn up at Job Centres.

Yes, I'll have a dig about, so the democide continues, they truly won't be happy until claimants are dead.
