First of all thanks for the help on other issues I've had

I brought an 08 plate focus of gumtree on Friday for 1350 with 158000 in the ad it said he was trade

I've had a couple of issues with it turbo air inlet pipe split and sticking calliper and sqeekink belt which he sorted out monday at his expense

This morning driving down the road it threw the belt off that ran the power steering ect I phoned him up and asked should recovery take it to his garage or mine he said he is out of pocket on it and il have to sort it at my expense

Where do I stand ? Should he pay for the repair or should I ?

under the CRA its under 14 days you don't need any excuse to get a full refund

and if its faulty within 30 days full refund too

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

That's the way to do it:

1. Buy car from dogy dealer

2. Car breaks down

3. Ask for advise here

4. You are advised you can get a refund as you are entitled.

5. IGNORE them, keep the car and get your garage to fix it.

What exactly was the point of asking for advice if you intend to ignore that advice?

1- I need a car to see my kids and get to work and it has a lot of service history with it and only 2 owners from new and for their price I paid it was a good deal

2-turns out his mechanic over tightened the belt and it snapped and my garage have done me a written report about it

3- I can take his to court to get the money back I spent getting it repaired Which I think I'd prefer to do as then atleast I can get over to see my kids as I'm not a deadbeat dad and they come above everything else and I don't have to wait for a court hearing to force him to give my money back

4- the bloke could drop dead anytime as he is 81 then I would have to get it repaired anyway

not just that if you take it court and win he can still refuse to pay then you after pay high court to get the cost and if he doesn't have anything worth taking then high court cant do anything else

but why buy a car with 158k on the clock that engine may die at anytime if theres no service history

Power steering belt can be replaced on roadside on most cars in 5 minutes by any diy mechanic.

Not sure if it's different for your focus, but frankly if it only cost you £50, I would just forget about it.

End of the day you bought a car with 158k miles on the clock.

It's a miracle it's still running.
