Companies that do not give an email address

Did I read tha companies now must offer a email contact address? Some ruling by Ofcom or some similar body.

Why do you ask? Whos the company you are after.

Not all companies - particularly smaller ones - use the internet for business so do not have an email address.

 

I doubt if there is a rule requiring a company to have one.

no requirement to offer email or telephone contact details. Law on business addresses very clear and that is a written address where legal documents may be served or in the case of a shop the trading address, which is usially just the same as the shop you are in, even for multi branch outfits.

Where some businesses like Sky do run into trouble is by insisting that you contactnthem by phone or email to cancel contracts. shame they dont get prsecuted for thsi breach of the law. They do this so they can try and persuade the complainant to keep subscribing to the product they are moaning about and then deny the contract was cancelled.

Does this apply to businesses operating from Northern Ireland ?

 

Recently took delivery of an order. No address, company number, or VAT number (VAT is shown as a separate charge on the "invoice"). Somehow, I don't think this is compliant with UK/EU law and I do like to know who I'm doing business with.
