no you are missing the point in your 1st sentence...

it is because you didn't contact scott & co or the council that you had left work

and thus the arrestment of wages would fail & thus needed to setup a DD

that this had happened

there is NO REQUIREMENT for any letters to be sent to warn you this was going to happen

you already agreed to the order and the pitfalls of failing to keep to it when you agreed the arrestment.

almost £4k of CTAX debt is reqlly high

how many years did the arrestment cover?

and when did you agree to it

or to put it simpler, when did the first wages arrestment take place?

it appears that they have simply added this years CTAX onto the same existing order..did you agree to this?

you need to try and pull some sympathy strings here directly with the council and their 'unfavourable' behaviour in not p'haps reminding you to pay when you quit work.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yeah, I get where youre coming from.

Tbh I cant remember when my wages were arrested,

more than likely for a couple of years before I stopped work.

I didnt agree to anything, which is no doubt why arrestment took place.

It totally slipped my mind to contact them after I gave up work,

prob due to being more concerned about my health but this, I know, is no excuse.

I have no idea how long debt goes back and is for,

it was taken out my wages so was not concerned about it as they were getting their monthly amount.

I just completely forgot about it the past 2 months and now I am paying for that I suppose.

not saying contact them

but worthy of a read:

http://scotland.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/advice_topics/paying_for_a_home/paying_council_tax/council_tax_arrears

so you need to ask how many warrants have been issued and when and for what value

as I've said £4k is one hell of a debt, probably over several years.

they should be able [the council] to tell you these things and HELP you resolve the issue

you MUST play heavily on the fact that they know your health issues very well

and placed you in these houses

I am including a copy of the minutes of a meeting of the Scottish Social Security Symposium. http://www.govanlc.com/ssc_cpag

The fourth point made on bank Arrestment made by Mike Dailly

where he suggests that your best option may be to challenge the action of the Council for wrongful diligence owing to trying to arrest an account almost only consisting of either state benefits or pension payment.

It would be helpful if you explained why you have so much in your account at the moment while being in arrears with your Council tax.

You could also claim financial hardship because so much of your money has been earmarked for your funeral.

Although they could argue that you could pay a monthly fee towards funeral costs thus releasing some of your pension pot.

I know someone who works at CAB she says that Scott and co have been failing to send information about DAS with letters to people and could be breaking the law.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having

I know that there are funeral plans you can pay up, we did this for my granny and it cost just ten pounds a month
