I've received a letter from Controlaccount PLC for an outstanding debt £40.55.

It's addressed to my husbands nick name which is a bit random

but it seems that they plan on taking me to court .

It's not clear from the letter what the money is for

, I'm assuming that seeing as DHL is mentioned, it's a delivery charge.

What should I do, if anything?

I've moved you to the postal forum

It'll be for real or poss bogus custom charges after something you got via DHL from abroad

The best thing you can do is copy your thread title

Into the search cag box of the top red toolbar

Safe to say mind..

You ignore CA totally

They are not bailiffs!!

And have no legal powers

As with any DCA.. Toothless

If you do owe

You pay dhl directly

Go have read

Dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

DHL got a rocketing for charging customs fees that werent actually paid to HMRC

and admin charges that didnt represent their costs as the sender has already paid them for the service!

I doubt if they will take anyone to court, the letters are worded to make you think that they are.

If you know what this relates to you can enter into correspondence with them

and demand a breakdown of the amount claimed and then hit back to reduce it

but if you arent sure about your paperwork and sums just ignore it

or return the letter marked no one of that name at this address

and let them waste some time looking at the electoral roll.
