Hi,

So the other half received an initial letter from Arrow Global today saying that they are trying to contact him about a personal matter aka trying to recover a debt.

After reading other posts myself and the OH are in two minds whether to ring them as most have said to deal with them in writing. However without phoning them we can not access how much debt they are trying to collect and from what company they are collecting on behalf for.

Any help on this would be great!

Hi,

Arrow would have purchased the debt for pennies in the pound and will now chase you for the whole amount, that's how they make their money.

Send a SAR to Arrow (£10) recorded delivery and see what comes back.

They have 40 days from receipt to supply you with the info.

When it comes back it should contain all the info you will need to take the next steps.

Thank you for your advice twoman. Do I not need to send them a CCA rather than a SAR as I thought an SAR was for the original creditor (the company they bought the debt from) or do Aroow still have to comply to a SAR

SAR? A dca no.

Tell us about the debt first please

Never ever ring a dca!!!!

They are not bailiffs

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi,

As you have previously stated ,you have no idea what the debt is, how much or who the OC is.

If you SAR them (Arrow) the CCA should be included in the request ....if they have it!!

As DX says though if you can give more details on the debt then the appropriate help can be given.

Its nothing more than a phishing letter which i would personally ignore completely, they have probably sent a hundred out to people with the same name hoping to get a bite on it maybe being your other half

Get the ither half to check their credit file (free to do on "noddle" and "clearscore")

It may give a clue to what they are chasing, arrow chase old orange mobile debts amongst other things

Agreed. Its a phishing letter. They do not know who he is, where he lives or even if they have the correct person. Its just cleverly worded.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

As per martin and renegade, they don't care which Mr X pays just so long as somebody does. Ignore and never phone them, or they will constantly harass you with calls and texts, even if not your debt in the first place.

We could do with some help from you.

Thank you everyone for your advice, we are going to safely ignore it for now, and if another letter drops on the mat which has clear proof then we will go down the SAR route but gut feeling it's probably an old orange mobile debt which would have been years ago

Youre very unlikely to get clear proof. They usually send out the phishing letter, then send out an actual letter about the debt to a handful of people without even confirming youre the person they want. This has the effect of scaring most people into contacting them, and as already said, they start chasing you regardless of if youre the debtor or not.

If you have an unusual name

then they know that if for example

there are only 3 people in the country with the same surname and initial

they will write to all 3 and cross the 2 off the list who reply and hound the third person.

Now, one of the other 2 may have not being telling the truth but Arrow dont care,

they will chase anyone who looks likely to wilt under pressure.

If your name is common then the letters will be sont out to a number of say, Jiones's in the same county

and they then try a wider search if no-one gets in touch
