Hp printer help

Hi

I have a HP 3 IN 1 printer , model 1510, it has been working with no problem but now for some reason when I want to print something it just comes up say generating preview and nothing! it just sits there, I have do all the tests and it is printing them off with no problem so am at a loss now.

Any advice pleae, have tried all the things HP tell you to and have no changed anything

IMO many of these cheap printers dont last long before they go nuts, oftens its the firmware which goes screwy sometimes its possible to flash it and install; new firmware other times not, I now I and many other memebers of my family have umpteen printers where it ends up easier just to go buy a new one.

 

You tried removing all the drivers and re-plugging in the USB (to a diff port) and letting it re-install them ?

yes Andy done all that, it will print of test sheets etc but not important items x

If its getting stuck at generating preview stage then its computer software problem as this is done before anything is sent to print.

When you re installed the drivers did you do that from disc or hp website?

It may be that the software you are trying to install is corrupt after downloading or a scratched disc etc.

I would completely uninstall the printer and start again with a fresh installation, like you would if you had just bought it.

Ok Martin ty, will try that, it was running fine till the weekend, and my comp said all drivers up to date, I am not very technical when it comes to things like that lol

have just done another driver update and it is showing I have several need updating it asked if I wanted them updating but to register them? Guess that means have to pay

all I get when trying to print is loading preview

No you simply need to uninstall the printer and driver then treat the printer as a new one.

Uninstall the software first through you control panel and "program and features"

Uninstall the printer through "device manager"

Dont bother with the software that checks for out of date drivers, it will cost you money

Thanks Martin, did what you suggested and it worked! have no idea why it just suddenly decided to stop working, much appreciated and you were right about the software it wants you to pay!

If you are using Windows 10 go to (or search for) HP updated drivers. Any driver updates (not upgrades) are usually a free download

Yeah..sounds like some sort of scamware was involved, so many of these poxy ads, Speed up your PC, etc..went to my Dads recently and his PC was full of crap, none of it speeding up anything, quite the reverse.

I never add anything, all have on my pc is Avira browser safety, Adblock plus,adremover, safesearch, maskme, and do not trace me plus antivirus
