First direct ppi claim refused

Did the usual claim re ppi to first direct,

 

 

they confirmed ppi on 3 credit card account numbers,

 

 

waited the 8 weeks for investigation and answer as follows,,,,

 

 

,,applied for card August 1995 was eligable etc

application form sent and was Prepopulated based on information I gave in telephone conversation,

,,so apparently I had indicated I would like ppi to be included,and as a result PPI was purchased on a 'non advised basis'

meaning they did not access my suitability for the insurance

 

 

.Their insistence is that even though I was self employed the PPI covers self employment.

 

 

The result is that they believe I had sufficient information to make an informed decision about PPI

which was purchased on a 'non advised basis'.so won't uphold my complaint.

 

 

I wasn't aware of PPI at that time as on my credit card statement it had CPP,

 

 

didn't know what that was,

 

 

they say this was all from a telephone conversation in 1995 !

 

 

Where do I go next

does it cover self employment? unlikely.

dodgy ppi complaints handling? something loyds for eg got done for?

cpp is ppi.

a dsar may be useful, to double check.

I'm amazed they have info from 1995..me thinks this is a bit of a white lie to put you off.

 

 

how did you invite the reclaim?

did you simply send a speculative letter

or did you use the FOS questionnaire?

just decided to claim after finding an old credit card statement showing CPP

 

 

wrote a letter saying I thought it was mis-sold and I was self employed.

 

 

Absolutely surprised they have or had telephone information from 1995 !!

 

 

Was going to ask for a digital copiy rather than a transcript.

 

 

They have sent a photocopy of the insurance which they claim I would have been sent at the time

 

 

but there is no way to be sure that this is the correct document or a current one.
