Now one but no one actually takes a baby to work unless there is somewhere to put it. If you're breastfeeding and no facility at work, then you should stay at home until they have moved onto bottle feeding.

It would never happen, bus drivers with their kids on their lap, cribs on shop counters. Whoever said this was just being stupid.

Breastfeed in public discreetly while shopping or going out for the day but not in work.

The British really are very odd. Breast feeding is the most natural thing and we should have no objection to it being done anywhere.

We could do with some help from you.

I don't think there is a general objection to it, (well maybe by a few weirdos). It's not just feeding, there is the winding, the being sick, the nappy changes. It just isn't practical to be sat on

a bench in the commons and be looking after a baby.

But then how many women MPs are of child bearing age ?

Their basic pay would cover child care costs, so there isn't any real need to take a baby into the House in the first place.

You've all got the wrong end of the stick.

This is for the MP's so they can go to work dressed in their evening wear adult diapers.

At least it will keep them quiet for a while.

The Tory Legacy

Record high: Taxes, Immigration, Excrement in waterways, energy company/crony profits

Crumbling: Hospitals, Schools, council services, businesses and roads

If only the Govt had thrown a protective ring around care homes

with the same gusto they do around their crooked MPs

I thought breast feeding was a private moment between Mother & Baby ! I don't think I would like to breast feed a child in a public place - just think of all the germs !!

Aside from which, if the Mother MP is feeding her baby, how on earth can she be concentrating on matters of state ?

IMHO, this breast feeding in public thing is basically just women saying look how powerful we are in that we can force our daily lives on others !!

As far as I'm aware the HOC doesn't allow children in so I doubt its going to happen.

However if a public place allows children then its against the law to stop a mother breast feeding or make her feel awkward about it.

Frankly, I wish I'd had the courage of my convictions and BF in public, perhaps I'd have left the house more often. I was virtually on house arrest (extremely hungry baby).

I can't really understand why people object and some peoples reasons I find quite bizarre.

But BF in public isn't saying look how powerful we are (women). Its saying, my baby is hungry and I believe breast is best (which it is). It seems that its OK to sexualise breasts but heaven forbid they're used for their actual purpose. Sit in isolation so nobody can see you.

As for BF in the HOC, is this being debated in the HOC? Has someone complained that mothers can't BF in the HOC? Are MPs bringing their children to work? What's prompted this discussion?

CitizenB does make a good point. I don't object in the slightest to women breastfeeding. I do, however, believe there's a time and place for things like this. I'd rather go outside and feed my baby than sit in the House of Commons and feed.

Thanks for that.

Although I agree we need more women in the HOC I don't think this is the way to go. I think MPs do little enough work as it is. Its supposed to be a place of work.

Mind you on the other hand, one of my previous employers allowed smoke breaks and allowed time out to pray 4 times a day. Other workers were really annoyed that those taken advantage of this weren't putting the same working hours in for the same pay.

My ex breast fed our kids and did so on demand, no matter where we were. She was very discreet about it and very few people noticed. She even fed my youngest daughter on a bus. No one noticed.

I have no objection to people exposing a breast. My moobs are up there with the best of them
