Hi all

I haven't logged in on here for a very long time. But I've been lurking & have seen the posts about claiming back unfair interest and charges on the dreaded payday loans!

I just want to say thank you really!

I've put in complaints against Pounds to pocket, Wonga, my jar, payday uk & payday express.

So far myjar have offered £700 which I've accepted I'm waiting to hear from the others! I'll keep updating this thread when I hear back in the hope it inspires someone else to complain!

(Does anyone have any contact details for swift sterling?)

Ah I was afraid you might say that. Oh well.

I will join a credit union! Going to look into it now! I will never get myself in this mess again! I worked very hard to clear all of my debts in a DMP so the money im getting back now is going straight into my 'emergency' fund!

You can have up to 3 accounts (per household) with a Credit Union.

Christmas Club (can only be taken out at Christmas) - this would save people falling for those Christmas Hamper companies that seem to regularly go bust.

General Savings - Saving for large projects

Household bills etc - you can take money out as and when the bills arrive.

When you have saved with them for a little while you could then probably take out a loan should it be needed.

Did someone mention Credit Unions.

Find yours wherever you are.Link at the bottom of the post..

You may be surprised what they can do for you.

Ethical Savings

Credit unions offer a range of savings accounts that allow you to save as little or as much as you can afford

Unlike other saving schemes you can save as much or as little as you like, weekly, monthly or as often as you wish. Deposit savings at: convenient branches, local shops, collection points, by direct debit or directly from your wages. Credit unions aim to pay a dividend on savings once a year to all it's members. Dependent upon performance this can be as much as 8% of the total amount that people have saved. Credit Unions serve the community, so when you invest in your local credit union you know that the people who are benefiting are your neighbours or colleagues and not outside shareholders.

All money saved in a credit union is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme

Link to join yours,if you feel like it of course.

That's great! I've just signed up for my local credit union!

I forgot to say in my first post my jar offered me £12 first of all - I responded with a no and asked to escalate and then this is when they came back with the offer of £700! So don't just take what they offer first of all!

They offer you almost nothing because they hope you are completely inept at all this. The fac tthey gave you £700 shows that they are nothing more than con artists and need to be shut down.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Just a quick update I had the refund from txt loan/ my jar into my bank account yesterday morning. Still waiting to hear from:

Lending stream (they offered a refund amount over a week ago and not heard anything since)

PaydayUK (they said they'd respond by the end of November)

Wonga (they gave the 8 week wait so that's mid December)

Pounds to pocket (they've also give me the 8 week wait)

Payday express (no timescale from them need to keep chasing I think!)

Quid.co.uk (no response at all from them)

Worrying how many loans I had and how much mess I was in. Had my letter from the credit union today confirming I'm now a member you'll be pleased to know!

Well i must say that was a rapid application and reply. Now you can go round singing

I am a union man

That is what i am

I say what i think that the legal loan sharks stink

Yes i am a union man.

Better explain at times like this i usually put a song on but dare not.

But it is from the 70s a tune called i am a union man-The Strawbs it is on you tube if you want to see it.Then you just alter the words slightly.

I feel citizenB may arrive soon.I can never catch the site team arriving.I believe they have magic cloaks as in the Harry Potter film.:-)

ok I've had a response from 24/7 moneybox:

Hope that you are well. Please find below a copy of our complaints procedure. If you remain dissatisfied you can refer the complaint to our trade association (BCCA) and ultimately the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

247Moneybox is committed to lending responsibly at all times. Our measures include:

Comprehensive credit, ID and employment checks to assess affordability

Prohibiting loan extensions

Affordable and variable loan amounts based on disposable income

Charging you interest on a daily basis, as opposed to monthly, so that if you do repay early you can save money

Be transparent, honest and open

All of the terms and conditions of the loan, as well as the charges, will be displayed clearly up front before you make a decision about whether to borrow. The only way the cost can increase is if you don't repay your loan on the date agreed.

Act professionally, reasonably and responsibly in all our dealings with you. We will endeavour to make sure that all our suppliers of goods and services that we do business with, do the same.

Make sure all our staff are trained to the highest standards, incorporating all relevant requirements, guidelines and codes set out in law and by the FCA as well as professional trade bodies such as the BCCA. This is in addition to our Responsible Lending Principles.

Ensure you have all the information you require to make an informed and sensible borrowing decision. If at any time you require extra information please do not hesitate to contact us via the website, email or phone.

Address your questions and handle complaints quickly and efficiently. Our complaints procedure is clearly set out in the Questions and Answers section.

Consider cases of financial difficulty in a sympathetic and positive light. For more information please see our Responsible Lending Principles.

As advised, you have incurred fees and interest as per your loan agreement. Your loan has been successfully repaid'

So I've passed this onto the ombudsman is that the right thing to do?

If they failed on any of their terms and conditions, then yes, escalating your complaint to the Ombudsman was the right thing to do :)
