Hi. My 15y old child is banned from an M&S store for swearing at a member of staff. Is the company allowed to throw us out of the store 6 months later when I decide to go in there together with my child to buy clothes? Thank you

The store is private property & can tell anyone to leave, without having to give a reason. If they don't have a reason, a complaint to Head Office is likely to be upheld.

If your child was banned, and you took them into the store, it isn't unreasonable for them to ask you both to leave.

Buy their clothes elsewhere, and use the experience as a way to help your teenager find better ways of expressing themselves than swearing at store staff.

Did they ban you now, too, or just ask you to leave with the banned person?

I would have thought swearing at a member of staff would be a pretty good reason and no doubt the store manager has to make a report at the end of each day if such an action is taken ?

Were you aware your child had done this, or was this the first time you knew about it ? If you knew previously, did you not make your child return to the store to apologise ?
