we didn't have funds for 2 direct debits in the morniing but put the money in the bank in the afternoon. now we are being charged £76. therefore, the monies were available on the day

these payments went unpaid

spoke to a branch assistant and he said the computer takes it out in the morning. if it's not there, it gets unpaid and we get charged. they are crediting £38 back tot he account but i want the full amount back ie £38

i have asked for this dispute to be sent to the regional office and am waiting to hear back from them.

what, if anything, can i do now?

well Ive been down this road a few times !! Nat West position is they don't accept same day cash cover, why? I do not know (well actually it's so they can charge you !) . Also why it costs £76 to not pay 2 D/D's is not quite clear, but I belive it to be unlawful.

As mentioned see the FAQ's. However in an instance like this the bank will claim their T's&c's state money has to be cleared by 3:30 the day before - rubbish isn't it!

Follow the FAQ and claim it back.
