DIY SOS for a Royal Engineer, Mo Morris

I have just watched this programme -

 

 

Tonight, the team are in Maidstone to help Mo Morris, a former Royal Engineer who was given a medical discharge from the Army after 20 years serving his country.

 

Damage to his knees has left him struggling to walk unaided and he suffers almost constant pain.

 

 

All this guy wanted was a downstairs toilet so that he could have some dignity - at the time of making the programme, the local council were still making up their minds whether or not to provide this for him. Shocking.

 

What an amazing transformation though Nick Knowles, his team , local tradesmen and the whole community came together to give this man his life back and provide him and his family with a brighter future.

Hadn't realised it was almost 2 years old, very humbling to watch. Its difficult to imagine what was going through the poor lads mind when they recorded the show.

 

I'm usually apolitical [in the sense that I don't air my views] but the thought that it takes the intervention of a home improvement programme to get a hero his downstairs loo says much of the incumbents and their local lackeys.

I didn't realise that it was a repeat either, Mike. OH said he thought he recognised the family

 

I would like the team to revisit some of the projects they have worked on to see how the families are now coping.
