I think all you can do is negotiate with the secured loan company - are you going to be able to pay the mortgage and the loan going forward?

How much are the arrears on the secured loan?

Hi Ell-Enn, sorry didn't see this reply.

the arrears are about £21,000

took out loan approx. 11 years ago - I've already paid around £80,000 of a £100,000 loan. they say the balance is about £68,000 - not sure if this includes the £21,000. just feels like it'll never end!

I have noticed on my credit report that they have not recorded any change in the balance for my account since Oct 2015! surely that can't be right and even then it says the balance is £77,000???

nothing makes sense.

I can afford both going forward but I also want to know why they are not recording the balance properly or what is the balance - who knows??

Anyone have any thoughts on this, feel like I'm being ripped off somewhere, but I understand I've missed payments but they don't deserve to take my home if there are things going on behind the scenes.

hi All, I'm sorry to keep banging on but I just don't know where to start with this, I can't call them but I am willing to up my payments each month.

Should I tell them that I very stupidly took out a payday loan to clear my FIL debts or not?

please help?

As I said previously - you need to negotiate with the loan company,

best thing is to write them a letter stating you had unexpected costs following your FIL's death

and you can now offer £XXX towards the arrears each month in addition to the normal monthly payment.

Personally I wouldn't admit to them that you took a payday loan

- they might think you're liable to do it again and get into a financial mess (which, as you know, is what happens).

HI Ell-enn,

so glad you're here. I understand, thank you.

Is there any chance (and I know I am pushing it here!) is there any chance you can help me with wording etc, I just want to make sure they understand too and try to re-assure that it will be ok now. I can afford another £50 - do you think this will be enough? at a push I can do £70

How much extra are you paying at the moment ? i.e. on top of the normal monthly payment

OK, I'm at work at the moment but I'll try and find some time to draft a letter at some point today.

Hi, draft letter affixed - make sure you put the surname in where I have put xxx's in the letter and then send by special delivery. Keep the SD receipt so you can check on the royalmail website in a few days and print off the signed for receipt - keep that safe with a copy of the letter.

Many many thanks Ell-Enn,

I noticed on my letter thought that there are some charges. I'm not sure what these are for, probably arrears but do you remember some time ago a man showed up for eldrbridge asking questions?

You drafted a letter for me to send about that but I'm afraid I never did(due to issues with printing)

Anyway this is the thread re my secured loan.

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?349408-Cannot-afford-Firstplus-payments-very-worried!!-Please-help!/page26&highlight=firstplus

and its post 506.

I think we might need to switch to that thread, and maybe I should ask about these charges as well as query why the balance in my noddle account is about 10,000 more and hasn't reduced at all since OCT 2015, even though I've made payments - do they have to report the balance correctly ?

Let's get the issue of the missing payment sorted first, just in case they won't play ball. It's always best to secure the roof over your head before taking on other issues. One step at a time - that way you keep (some sort) of control instead of flitting from one issue to another - that's how things get muddled and missed.

If you want to be doing something, make a list of things that you want to query with your lenders - we can then pick them off one at a time, once we have this secured loan payment issue sorted out.

I have printed off the letter and will send today. I will do as you suggest, thank you.

But I just wonder about the reporting the CRA's thing, all others on my noddle show correct balances, and show them decreasing each month except this one, I won't do anything until I get this arrangement sorted out, but could you just tell me if I am wrong? :-)

Well any reporting to the CRA's has to be correct so we can write to them once we get the payment issue out of the way. Have you looked on Experian ? it's not unusual for lenders not to use Noddle (or stop reporting to them) - I've known accounts not reported on there for many months yet they show on Experian as correct.

I've just managed to get authenticated on Experian - and I'm a bit shocked to see that the balance is the same as shown on noddle but they haven't reported to Experian at all since NOV 2015!!

This can't be right ! - What does this mean?

It is defaulted but that was in 2012, they reported balance changes all the way up to Oct/Nov 2015 (according to Noddle) then nothing. Experian doesn't seem to show the balance each month - only says current balance which wouldn't be right as it hasn't changed since Nov 2015 (so not current)

OK, as I suspected they have obviously stopped reporting to Noddle (happens a lot), but Experian should be showing up to date info (provided that is what they are being told)

No that's the problem. On experian it's showing a different balance to what the letter from elderbridge gives me.

It hasn't been updated since Nov 2015. The other accounts on there show updated in the last month so I know the report is correct. But why haven't they told experian?

I would understand noddle not being updated properly as it's free but experian should be shouldn't it?

The balance on noddle and experian are the same but noddle shows you the changes each month whereas experian just gives me a current bamance that hasn't been updated since Nov 2015.

I hope this makes sense
