V890 sorn process is a bit too easy?

I recently have SORN my old car. I didn't have a V5C form so I used a V890 form, which only asks you for the car REG and address.

 

Sent off in the post and couple of days later it's sorn.

 

Does this mean I could sorn any car as long as I know the address? Couldn't this be used by ticked off neighbors that don't like you parking in the bay outside their house, in hopes that they recieve fines down the line by AMPRs?

Seeing that you don't have to cancel a sorn when taxed and insured, probably not.

As above, the car will still be taxed and insured so no problem.

Nope. Upon SORN the tax is stopped and refunded.

Is that automatic now as full months had to be claimed ??

Well depending if you pay monthly or not. I paid monthly, then thr payments stopped after i sent off the form.

 

When a car is sorn, the tax status changes to sorn, despite if there is tax that needs to be claimed back or not.

 

Family member got pulled over for driving a sorn car, even though they had insurance on it still.

 

Just seems like a loophole to me.
