Not a huge dilemma, not in my life anyhow, but merely an observation really.

Whilst I was wheeling myself around my local Asda earlier I picked up a bag of Bananas marked up for a £1, then wheeled off passing one of those weighing scales for customers, just decided to place them on there and check the weight, and it printed off the ticket for 54p (fifty four pence)..

So put the new price ticket on the bag of bananas and put them back deciding I'd gone off nanas today...

Just made me think how much other stuff they have marked up at 'bargain' prices, but in reality all your paying for is the plastic bag they've wrapped them in?

I saw a pack of 4 tins of spaghetti for £2.25 next to individual cans of the same spaghetti for 50p.

Only one question did the banana's adhere to EU Regulations on banana's?

Ha ha, I forgot my tape measure.... but they were curly enough, and yellow enough..

Next week, cucumbers!

I don't think most shoppers realise just how they are being ripped off by supermarket "Bargains".

It certainly makes you look at the bargains they have marked up, so in a way they should make for a more savvy shopper...

Well when they've got offers like buy 1 get 1 free etc, you know they would not be doing that unless they were making a huge profit. The supermarkets bully their suppliers for better terms. It's pretty shocking that joe public puts up with it.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

My favourite is 1kG TUBS OF BUTTER ( NOT ON ANY OFFER) IKG tub say £2.85 2 500 gram tubs, £1.00 each Supermarkets must think we are stupid, trouble is a lot of punters just don't check

Sometimes it's quite hard to work out what's best value for money with different sizes and offers for the same products. It's obviously worth their while. You're supposed to be able to tell by the price per kilo/pound etc, but even those don't always make it clear.

Many products a designed with wastage in mind. Let me explain, they want you to buy their products, lots of them.

E.G. Toothpaste, the tube is designed so not all the product can be removed with normal use, when you think there is no more left, right, off to the supermarket to by another. Before you bin the old toothpaste, cut it open, see how much is actually wasted through design.

  • 8 months later...

Just spotted this thread. It's not just supermakets - I was in BHS this week and saw gents' polo shirts at labelled at £10 each being advertised on adjacent giant posters at two for £26 ! Pointed it out to an assistant who just shrugged.
