I have a card with a £500 limit which is around £600 at the moment.

I have buried my head in the sand and ignored them for far too long.

I set up a payment plan before it went out to an external debt collector (I understand IMPACT is the internal team)

- the first payment of £58.00 was made and then it goes up to £118 next pay day. I have not missed this yet.

It will be difficult to make this payment but I still want to make a payment.

What is the best way of dealing with them?

I have to say that they have been very patient with me when they didn't really need to be

I am not looking to kick off or cause myself more grief.

They offered me a payoff fee which wasn't affordable at this moment but will be in a couple of months.

Another couple of affordable payements will let me get back on the right track.

Any advice?

Thanks

You need to enter into an arrangement plan and STICK with it. No point in saying, I can afford £x when it is unlikely that you can.

It might be in your interest to speak with National Debtline. Have them help you produce a budget sheet that reflects your income and expenditure, accurately. It is possible your creditors might freeze interest and charges once they see you are committed to a proper budget.

I understand that - I am more asking for how to get them to agree to something affordable. I offered £58.00 this month and they asked for an increased payment next month. That's when i'll come unstuck. £58 is affordable, £118 is not.

I'm happy to pay and have presented them with a budget sheet (by post and over the blower) and i'm not trying to get out of paying, i just need it to be affordable.

you say theyhave offered a discount to clear the debt before?

that means theres prob something to reclaim

like PENALTY FEES or PPI [ROP in their case]

have you all the statements?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

I spoke to them this month and they first offered one amount - I believe £450 (around that figure) and when I was umming and ahhing he said that they would take £300 which leads me to believe that it could be made up of a lot of penalty fees. I don't remember taking out PPI or anything like that.

Is it best to get a copy of the statements and tell them I won't be paying anything just yet until I've reclaimed?

Thanks all

I clicked on SAR in your post and have the letter template.

If i get this sent off within the next few days, what is the procedure in regards to repaying? Do i hold off on anymore repayments until they have replied to the SAR?

The next payment is due 16th Oct

Thanks

the level of reclaiming

  • 3 weeks later...

Letter sent on day of last post in this thread, still nothing back.

Made a payment yesterday via bank transfer (for less than the agreed amount) and

spoke to someone on the phone and

they said the account was frozen of interest and charges.

Asked if they'd recieved letter (had proof of postage as couldn't afford Recorded at the time) and

she said a different department dealt with it.

Offered another full and final repayment of £480 (balance is £500 at the moment)

- obviously waiting to see what happens with reclaiming charges first.

Any advice?
