I thought that Scotland was always allowed to do its own thing education wise from the Act of Union in 1707 anyway. This included free university education so I don't understand that argument. Roll on this time next week when hopefully it will all be over, unless the Scots vote Yes, then the real fun will begin. If that happens I can imagine a lot of MPs will be getting a proper ear bashing off their constituents telling them exactly what they think the Scots should get in the divorce.

No, that's my poll :)

Now if it was a poll to change the national anthem I'd be voting the other way.

An open letter on telecommunications considerations in the Scottish independence referendum

As individual companies and as an industry, we are committed to providing and investing in high-quality, affordable services to all of our customers in the UK. We are clear that this commitment will be completely unaffected by the outcome of the referendum on Scottish independence, which is entirely a decision for the Scottish people. Whatever the result, we remain fully committed to our customers, employees and operations in Scotland.

Should the majority of the people of Scotland vote for independence, there are a number of strategic and operational factors which would need to be resolved for our businesses.

Specifically, we would need to know how a Scottish telecoms industry would be regulated. Would there be continuity with the current European Union regulatory framework so that we would continue to operate across the border with common infrastructure under a single set of rules? What approach would the government of an independent Scotland take to the radio spectrum - currently licensed on a UK-wide basis - without which mobile networks cannot operate?

We may also need to modify our networks to reflect the reality of an independent Scotland; and we may need to consider whether to modify the services offered in Scotland, given its relatively demanding topography and relatively low population density. Any of these factors could lead to increased industry costs.

Finally, we reiterate that, whatever the outcome, we pledge we will continue to work hard to deliver the best possible services for all our customers and remain committed to our employees and operations in Scotland.

Now if they could make that same pledge to the rest of the UK I would be more impressed.

I got the impression that even if it is a NO vote, then there will still be some more shifting of power !

here

'The leaders of the three main parties at Westminster have signed a pledge to devolve more powers to Scotland, if Scots reject independence.'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29213418

but, as posed, wld scot mp's get more or the same power re down south, with more concessions up there?

as an English person I am embarrassed at the way Cameron is prostrating his self, pleading and begging the scots to stay, I do not agree that most English want the scots to stay, we are fed up with all the anti-English rhetoric coming from Scotland, if they want to go it alone then let then.

I know what you mean about our politicians they are all acting like snake oil salesmen

I am going on holiday next month and thought I should buy my euro's before the big vote on Thursday just in case of a yes vote with the possibility of a run on sterling. I was expecting a very poor rate with all the uncertainty but the rate offered was 1.20 which is not bad, do the banks now something the polls are not telling us

I am English with scotch parents ( both not with us ); I really wish we could have independence from Europe!

I would vote to be masters of your own destiny as much as possible, no matter what the cost!

Would you vote for Cornish independence if there was a vote on Thursday ?

Cornwall would then be outside of the UK and the EU. They could manage their own fishing policy, decide on relevant taxation/rules for second homes people have etc.

Not sure it would stack up financially.

We could do with some help from you.
