Now, they have been running for some time, but is there any way to bring to the attention of the buying public the actual cost of building a model via the weekly/monthlan issue ?

 

 

For example latest adverts

 

 

Build U whatever 130 issues at £7.99 less issue one at .50 p cost £1038.30

 

 

Build Mallard same ratio 150 issues at 5.99 less 0.50 £898.00

 

 

 

 

Apologies if the mthsa are out and I am sure that the models are splendid, it just irritates me that people could be so stupid as to go down this route

dont know about these but the recent hms victory was over £1500 when finished and you can buy a very simmler kit from billings boats one of the topmakers for only £ 200

This type of "Selling" is a "Rip off". ..... But "People" fall for it !!!

I find these adverts highly amusing and also a bit frightninng as there may be someone out there who actually buys the complete series just so they can construct the "bowl system of Herman Goring" who is that one wierd person these magazines are published for,

remember there is also usually a clause in the terms and conditions saying that if there isnt enough readers they can terminate the series at any time

 

paying £1000 would be bad enough but paying the first £750 then saying sorry were stopping the magazine would be worse

I don't do these myself but a friend does, he looks at it as being easy payments/affordable, brighthouse syndrome if you ask me.

It's not just the model though is it? You get a magazine collection too.

the mags are not worth it most of them are reprint of book you can find in your local pile it high and sell it cheep bookshop, or even wikipedia pages with a few extra photos.
