Hi, Feb 2014 I got an email from autodirect saying my car insurance was ready for renewing and it would be £60/70 more than last year. I replied saying I no longer wanted it as it was too expensive so I bought it elsewere. I then kept getting emails/letters/phone calls demanding £32. I didnt pay so now I have debt collectors (arc euro) saying I now owe them £258. 2013 I took out 12 months insurance with auto direct, paid for it,now all this threats and hassle, even court action been threatened. Any advice please would be more than welcome.

Regards ellasley

Just write to Autodirect stating what has happened and that you are fed having to deal with hassle, due to them not lapsing the policy at renewal as you requested. Enclose a photocopy of your new Insurance certificate with your new Insurers, so they can see you took Insurance elsewhere. Ask them to compensate you for the hassle you have been faced with or a final response if they wish this to be taken to the FOS. The FOS would charge AutoDirect £550 for dealing with the complaint, so I expect you will get an apology letter back with a small amount of compensation for the hassle.

We could do with some help from you.
