I think wilful damage would be difficult to enforce against a number of individuals paying in 1p each.

However if it happened nationwide I think the banks would be keen to turn other customers against those doing it, claiming delays in service or whatever in the press against this "group of individuals" and turning the general public against the campaign.

It would also have to be done on a regular, even daily basis by a fair percentage of the banking population to have any effect and that's unlikely to happen.

I only mouth my opinion, please look elsewhere for sensible advice! :)

Have a read here about the man who tried to pay a cheque written on the side of a cow into his bank:

Interesting. I read about it a while ago in FHM I think where they answered lots of weird question and a guy from the bank of England confirmed that as long as the wording is correct a cheque can be written on pretty much anything (except maybe a large lump of Uranium or Cocaine).

I had no idea someone actually tried it!

I work for a charity.

Why not. through digital banking make 100 1p donations to the same charity.

In the message element tell them the reason for doing it then top it off with a £9 donation.

Of course, gift aid all of the donations at the same time to get the inland revenue busy as well.

The corner has become much easier to approach. At long last I am able to start to look behind and see those left behind!

It actually amounts to criminal damage, and not something that we would endorse.
