My husband and I separated almost two years ago, no kids, fairly equal salary/savings/pensions/cars and we have a joint owned property. He lives in the property which has been for sale for 18months with no sign of selling and he is reluctant to reduce the price. I would like to move forward with a divorce, which i understood from legal advice already would be fairly simple under the quite equal circumstances but we would need to sort a house sale. My husband agreed with the sale as does not want to keep the house, he does not want me to buy him out but with no sign of sale what can i do next?

Why does he not want you to buy him out?

 

 

If the house hasn't sold for 18 months, there comes a point where you both have to accept that maybe the house is worth less than you hoped. Assuming the house is being actively marketed by estate agents, then without taking costly legal action I'm not sure there is much you can do beyond having a frank conversation with your husband about it.
