Hi.

I'm currently SE doing at least 30 hrs pw. Due to a medical condition that's popped up again, and is having a slight impact on my job, I'm looking to decrease my hours.

According to HMRC, the minimum hrs for disabled SE is 16 pw. But how do I go about proving this? I don't claim ESA or PIP. Do I just get a letter from the GP and submit it to HMRC?

Many thanks.

I did it the other way round. I informed them of an increase in hours from 20 to 32 a few years ago. No proof was ever asked for - remember you do get a form (Annual Review) stating what it is you are claiming for and whether or not there are any changes. I have to be SE as when any employer asks for medical conditions etc they run a mile when they realise the implications they could be taking on. Now work with daughter & granddaughter so it is easy to fit in any necessary time off.
