Just found an email addressed to me by name stating that I owe a sum of £150 to Month End Money.

The email comes from Credit Resource Solutions, but who on earth is Month End Money? I have no idea who they are.

Abit concerned about this if I'm honest. I would have treated it as spam except it is addressed directly to me.

Anybody know who they are?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Credit Resource Solutions have quite a few write ups, just Google them,or search the CAG posts.I will not pass judgement,I will allow you to draw your own conclusions.

Month End Money,MEM Consumer Finance.Payday UK operates under their licence.

Regards,John.

As with any DCA i would say go whistle... SAR them, get the info about what is alleged. Usual £1 cheque :) or is it £10?

Might be a wider issue here. I spoke to a bud last night who is half way through a preagreed repayment plan with MEM Consumer Finance/ Payday UK. She's made payments on time, no delays etc and has received an e-mail in June demanding the full balance of repayment from CRS irrespective of the agreed repayment plan. It seems odd that CRS claimed the account was from Month End Money - not MEM (same initials admittedly) although there may be some jiggery pokery rebranding going on.

Initial request for information to CRS was batted back to Payday UK so she lodged a formal complaint against them; 5 weeks in - no response, 3 weeks to go - complaint to FOS is in the drafting. OFT have been informed already likewise the ICO.

Send the prove it letter then ignore them. Keep an eye on your credit file

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Well nothing on my credit file (Have checked all 3) and I have merely replied to their email stating I don't not owe Month End Money any money and in any case who are they? And that's all I should need to do

I am not expecting a reply, but I would like to know where they got my name and email address from.

If they do come back and make any demands I shall ignore them and let it run and hope they carry out any threats of court action. It will cost them more than it will me.

One thing to remember, it is up to them to prove you owe something. Not for you to prove you dont. If they start saying that you need to prove you dont ( they word it cleverly), then just ignore them and copy in the OFT with their letter.

Make sure you lodge a formal complaint, give them 8 weeks to respond then get a complaint off to FOS in addition to OFT. Don't accept silent treatment/ lack of a response as satisfactory from these numpties. CRS have obviously found your details/been passed them from somewhere and it's your right to find out who's passed them on.

Month End Money seem to be the rebrand of MEM Consumer Finance/ Payday UK.

That's probably why I can't find much information on them if they are name changing. The only thing I know about Payday UK is the tv advert but as before I haven't used them either, I am not employed in the sense they require and in any case as a book keeper I would be very foolish to use them.

It really irritates me that I have to be dragged into things like this. I will probably send a complaint to FOS if I don't hear from them in the next 7 days. But if CRA mess me about I may start billing for my time...........

FOS won't be able to investigate until CRS have had 8 weeks to investigate/respond. Make sure you chase your complaint up as FOS will charge £550 investigation fee against CRS.

Payday UK seem to have dropped the ball referring quite a few cases (whether real or fictitious) to CRS, quite why they wanted to get into bed with these muppets is anyone's guess.
