Hi

My first post here so be nice please. Also may be a bit vague as I haven't all my credit report to hand as I am writing this from laptop in work.

Mods - please move if in wrong section or forum.

Im 26 years old now and looking to get a mortgage in the next couple of years and currently saving for a deposit.

I have two CCJ's against my name and a number of defaults leaving my credit score absolutely terrible.

First off HSBC bank for about £90 - I somehow went £7 overdrawn when I had no agreed overdraft and they put 3 £30 charges on. Being a young and naive 20 year old that was then being paid cash in hand and financially unstable I ignored it until they closed the account and i received a CCJ. I can settle this - thats no problem.

Secondly WELCOME FINANCE!

I took out a loan of £1500 with them when I was 18 (credit available - young free man no kids - very silly mistake!) Anyway long story short was that I paid back £2300 before being made redundant. I asked them for a the remaining balance and they told me I still owed them £2800!!! I told them where to go and didnt pay them a penny ever again. This also resulted in a CCJ too.

However I have since heard that Welcome have faced hard times (tough luck!) What is the best way to go about settling this debt and getting my credit score back on the mend?

I currently have another bank account with santander and have been working in another trade for over 5 years etc.

Any ideas on where I go from here?

Thanks in advance.

Tony.

If you have a CCJ, you need at least 3 years of clear and stable history ( usually from 3 accounts) AFTER the CCJ's have fallen off the report.

Unfortunatley, unless you have a VERY good reason to remove them, the CCJ's are there to stay. Even when paid, they will be marked satisfied, but it will still be very detrimental to your credit history until they fall off after 6 years.

YOu MIGHT be able to do something with the HSBC one though as the default and CCJ occured purely due to the bank levying charges on the account.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

I understand I have tarred my record permanently. I just hope I can make it look good enough to get a mortgage in the next few years.

What do you reckon about the HSBC one? I actually claimed back £365 worth of charges from HSBC before I got into debt with them and then subsequently ignored them as was paid cash in hand. They then closed the account and refused to reopen it.

How would I go about this? I suppose I need a detailed breakdown of the dates and charges etc?

If theres a CCJ on it, you wont be able to get a mortgage until around 3 years AFTER the CCJ has dropped off the file. Some lenders may lend with a satisfied CCJ but these are few and far between. Having 2 recorded on yoru file means you pretty much have zero chance.

Great stuff! lol

So even if I paid them tomorrow and they where marked as satisfied I would still struggle either way.

Will be looking for only an 80k mortgage maximum with myself putting between 15k and 20k towards the rest. It will be a joint mortgage with my partner who has a lot better credit rating!

Yep. Having a CCJ on your file pretty much guarantees you have the lowest possible credit rating. If your partner has a great credit rating, perhaps get the mortgage in her name. Might be a work around. The problem youll have with a joint mortgage is that they would take your finacnes into account. If she had a fantastic paying job, then they would take much less notice of yours as the ability to repay the mortgage would still be very viable through her.

I have only one entry under public record information which I assume is a CCJ.

The details are as follows -

Name: MR .............****

Address: 30, **** , NORTHAMPTON, ***

Date: 12/12/2007

Court: NORTHAMPTON COUNTY COURT

Case number: .............

Amount: £2,832

Information Source: Registry Trust Ltd

Note:

If you have paid a judgment you should contact the court and make sure they are informed. You may wish to request a Certificate of Satisfaction as proof of the change. We will be told that the judgment is satisfied and we will update our records. For further information please see the Report Guide.

As you can see it looks like I have defaulted on the HSBC account for only £105!! How do I go about getting this removed from the records if it is paid?

Secondly it is showing the account with welcome finance as if it is still active and being updated - I dont quite understand?

set your default scan page size to A4 less than 300DPI [150 will do]

scan the required letters/agreements/sheets - as a picture[jpg] file

don't forget you can use a mobile phone or a digital camera too!!

'

BUT......

ENSURE: remove all pers info inc. barcodes etc using paint program

but leave all monetary figures and dates.

if you have multiple scans/pics

put them in a word doc FIRST and convert that to PDF

it would be better to upload a multipage pdf if

you have many images too rather than many single pdfs

.

or if you have PDF as an installed printer drive use that

try and logically name your file so people know what it is.

though dont use full bank names or CAG in the title

I am very suspect of that welcome loan.

47mts ago it started at 6.

it was ONLY a 36mts loan!

ANd they have a CCJ!!

though it will fall off [vanish ] in December

however there is an extra £700 on the welcome balance

the debt will still be there.

you need to complain about all the 6's.

not being on the electoral role don't help either!

wheres the other CCJ...that's not showing

paying that HSBC debt will not get it removed nor clear your file.

Sorry I wasn't sure... I thought I had a ccj from the HSBC debt.

What do you reckon about the Welcome account then... It keeps getting updated. Is that what the ccj was for though it doesn't say and as you mention the amounts differ by £700!

Plan of action?
