Any advice here would be much appreciated...

Long story short I have received a letter today from Scotcall stating that the client has requested that they stop taking payment from me and that the client will be in touch to make further arrangements.

Has anyone else had this? Why would the client request Scotcall stop taking payment?

Thanks in advance

The original creditor is probably in the process of selling the debt on to a third party. Scotcall would've only been acting as their agents.

Whoever buys the debt also inherits your present repayment agreement so be careful they don't try to up it. ;)

I had a period of a lot of letters from DCAs coming through as I was going through a rough patch and got scared so set up payment plans for all of them. I was only 21 so didn't really think about it too much.

I've been scared to check my file to be honest :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Just so you are prepared. If you receive notice that the original creditor has assigned/sold the account on, then the new owner is taking the account on with a payment arrangement in place and they CANNOT refuse to continue with that arrangement.

At the present time, it is the OC and Scotcall who have refused to accept your payments and this goes against the OFT guidelines. Have a read of the following article.. if you do hear from anyone else then just let us know and we can advise further.

IMHO, the original creditor should have been in touch with you to let you know what is going on. Do keep that letter from Scotcall somewhere safe.
