Hi,

This sounds really silly but i took out a unsecured loan back in 2007 with Barclays and defaulted in 2009 owing just under £25k. I still bank with them as my current account is with them. What am confused about is that they are not pursuing me for it! They know where i live and know all my income and out goings. does anyone have any idea as to why its not been sold on or why they are not chasing me for it?

Hi Tinks,

Unless you want to start repaying the debt at a rate you can currently afford, you'll have to leave it for now.

If they come to you seeking payments, that's when you'll have to deal with the debt more seriously.

We could do with some help from you

No i definately dont want to do that. Am hoping to wait the 6 years from default.

Maybe they know they have completly messed me up from getting a morgage or even waiting for me to come into some money as am always in my OD with my current acc with them!

I did want to challenge the loan under unfair relationship but dont feel clever enough to do so and i understand i would open up the account and potentially move my default date.

Thats what i thought and thats why i have not challenged it.

They did give me the loan based on my income from benefits, that was irresponsible but i have to take some responsibility for my stupidity too. I did do some reading up and it would be classed as an unfair relationship but worry now that am working that would go against me as i am potentially able to pay the loan back on a arrangement.
