And what about couples where one of the adults is disabled and needs their own room?

Maybe they'll have to do what we do - sleep in shifts. My husband snores so loud it it can wake people two rooms away with two closed doors inbetween, and I toss and and turn all night due to continually waking with pain. He's an early bird and I'm a night owl, so it works for us, and we both get much more sleep. Also by being awake, my husband is around to help in the 'night' when I'm most wobbly and his sleep isn't constantly disrupted by having to get up with me.

But yes, not an ideal situation for most people.

still no protection for them, might be able to get a discretionary housing payment (although no guarantee)

Aren't those generally temporary?

more often that not, as they are up to the LA's discretion

Quite long, but an interesting read: If every tenant appeals ...

Very interesting read thanks.

I agree with the general theme for everyone to appeal. The system will explode. It will cost a fortune.

However as we know this government would move change the rules by stopping your HB until your apeal has been heared.

You just cant win.

Indeed, dyfed. Or they'll say they need to increase council tax to cover the cost of appeals. What I thought quite interesting, though, was the apparent difference between how Housing Benefit is calculated for private rents and how it is calculated for social housing.
