I would really appreciate some advice on whether I'm actually entitled to reclaim the premiums I paid out for this product.

I've always been self-employed;

when I took up a mortgage with HSBC in 2001

I was sold a Mortgage Protection Plan with Critical Illness Benefit plus a Mortgage Repayment Protector policy.

I understand that the MPP with CIB is a form of life cover so that probably wasn't missold,

but would the MRP have paid out to a self employed person?

Does anyone have experience of this product and the self employed?

Many thanks.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thanks very much for replying dx.

I had a good look through the thread you suggested but couldn't find any specifics on self employment exclusions.

So I spent some time in our loft last night and managed to find the Mortgage Repayment Protector policy document!

This defines Employment as

"Paid Employment, including self employment, of at least 16 hours per week".

Presumably this means I would have been covered as a self employed person which negates any claim I might have had?

Many thanks

you don't HAVE to rely on that reason.

they cant prove otherwise.
