Hi just curious,i won my claim start of the year with barclaycard, got 654 cleared my balance and got extra. One thing though, they close the account after this, same with capital one. is it standard practice for the credit card accounts to close after you claim the charges back?

im not overly concerned but just curious as ive not seen it anywhere on the forums that they closed the persons account.

Thanks

If the account has been generally well run then it is unfair of them to take this kind of retaliatory action.

However, vindictive behaviour is not unusual from UK banks. They like to win - and they don't like losing.

What claim had you won ? Was this for charges or PPI?

And yes, it is something that I have seen happen before.

Hi Ark,

Although it may be unfair or churlish to close an account after a claim is made, it's the bank's prerogative to continue to offer facilities or not.

Complaining about it will probably get you nowhere as the bank will say the closure is made as a commercial decision, the details of which it is unlikely to reveal.

:-)

We could do with some help from you
