Complaint aboutfaulty goods and terrible customer service: Asus X53E-SX1449 £399.99

I bought this laptop from you on the 16/02/2012.

This laptophas been faulty from the moment I used it.

It would not down load any updates at all, in fact it would not download anything at all.

I took it to your Cometstore 1071 Perth where they sent it away to Let me repair Ltd on the19/05/2012,

Let me repair it Ltd replaced the hard drive.

It was returned to be mended again by 06/08/2012 the same fault occurred.

Once again I returned it to your Comet Store 1071 Perth, it was sent away to Let me repair ltd

and they recovered the operating system, it was given back to me.

This time it was returned with a chunk of plastic missing on the left hand corner near the screen.

I took it back to Comet and Neil Picard store manager tried to get Letme repair it ltd to take responsibility-

they would not as apparently Comet should have checked my laptop upon return and did not.

Neil called me at home and at first tried to tell me that I would be responsible for paying for the damage!!

But when I said not on your life and told him in no uncertain terms would I be paying for my laptop to be fixed

as I had not caused the damage and l trusted my laptop to the care of Comet

and as far as I was concerned their responsibility lay on his shoulders.

Neil then said he would try to have a word with your own repair centre in Leeds but could not guarantee anything.

I have had no explanation about how the damage happened.

I then advised Neil of my intention to speak to the Citizen advice Bureaux.

I have spoken to the Citizen advice Bureaux who advised me to make my complaint official.

They have also made me aware of my rights and under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) goods must be fit for purpose,

as there was a problem with the goods when purchased, I am requesting a replacement Laptop.

I have tried to be as amenable as possible on two occasions and I am still not convinced the laptop is working

and further more I am very unhappy with the thought that I could have been made liable for the damage done to my laptop

had I not been as upset and become assertive and stood up for my rights.

Now I have to worry the fault could occur again and because Neil advised me they wrap goods up very well when sending to repair agents,

I am scared they may be further faults with the laptop as it must really have been dropped severely to have sustained this type of damage.

I am a single woman and bought this laptop as a means to communicate with the outside world

as I have a progressive chronic illness and spend a lot of time in and out of hospital.

Since buying this laptop I have had nothing but worry and stress which I really do not need.

Can someone please give me some advice to resolve this issue?

Thank-you Natural Healer

Not Comet again!!!

People should steer clear of Comet. We seem to be getting persistent similar complaints on a regular basis now.

Read the other recent posts about Comet - that will tell you what your rights are and what to do.

You will need to begin a court claiom to dislodge them.

You will win and in fact they will probably back down before the hearing.

Your chances of success are extremely high and you will get your costs.

Send them a 7 day LBA and then issue a claim. Don't hang around.

Keep us informed.

Hi Natural ,

Once again I returned it to your Comet Store 1071 Perth, it was sent away to Let me repair ltd

and they recovered the operating system, it was given back to me.

This time it was returned with a chunk of plastic missing on the left hand corner near the screen.

Neil called me at home and at first tried to tell me that I would be responsible for paying for the damage!!

Thought I had heard it all but this takes some beating the Customer is now expected to pay for damage suffered to a Product when COMET sends it away for repair and it comes back with a chunk missing from the Cabinet .

Shocking !

You also want to put in Writing everything that has happened and send the Letter Registered Mail to Bob Darke "The Directors Office " all the Contact Details can be found on the COMET threads here on CAG

Good luck in getting this resolved Natural .

This seems to be an issue when businesses have third parties. As its Comets contract to provide goods to you it is their responsibility for it. Really in my opinion (not legally trained) let me repair ltd are nothing to do with you. The facts are comet have failed to provide you with a working product that should be as sold they are completly responsible for it. If no help from comet make a complaint to your local trading standards office via direct.gov
