Hi,

I started a 12 month contract with bannatynes on the 20th sep 2011. I want to cancel my account ASAP but not sure how to do it after hearing of peoples 'lost' letters ect. So I have a few questions.

what information do I need to put in the letter other than my name and cancellation message

where do I send the letter/can I just hand it into my local ranch

How can I avoid them saying they lost my letter

thanks,

You could send it recorded delivery,or else special delivery.

There is currently an investgation going on by the OFT following the earlier Court case against another Gym company.

Bannatyne seems to be feeling the pinch as well as most.He has lost around 80% of his wealth in the space of a year.

His wealth as of 2011 was estimated at £430 million by the Sunday Times Rich List. In 2012, Sunday Times Rich List listed him as equal 869th with a worth of £85 million. His net worth dropped due to divorce and a drop in property value's at his Bannatyne Fitness chain, which made a £16.2 million loss in 2011.

Thanks for the link in post 2 Martin3030, one of the comments made me laugh out loud.....I'll post it here for light relief.....

I recently tried to leave my gym. The flaxen haired slender receptionist looked at me and said ‘you’ll be dead before 50’.

I saw this as an overt, school bullying tactic to keep me in the gym so I told her I was terminally ill and would barely make 40.

This episode paradoxically meant I stayed in the gym. Any sight of me overexerting myself and over heating is viewed with a solemn look of fear from her which has spurred me on to push myself, often to the point of vomiting.

Sort of a win-win.

Hi Ebiso and welcome to CAG

Were you looking to cancel BEFORE the year's m/ship is up ?

Unless you have really good grounds to cancel early, I suggest you pay for July and August's m/ship, if you can manage it. If you don't, you'll have a prolonged battle with the gym and it may not be worth all the hassle.

You can hand over a letter by 19th August at the gym but get a receipt for it signed by a staff member.

Otherwise, send an email no later than 19th August to the gym or their HO confirming your wish to cancel. You need give no reason for cancelling.

:-)
