If I am on ESA and living with my parents is it ok that they can put their loft insulation grant in my name and get in for free? They both work but I live at home with them and have health problems and am on ESA in the support group for the next 5 months at least. The man who came to the house and did all the forms siad this was all fine and put it in my name and took my national insurance number. I felt a bit worried about it as my parents both work and though are not rich they probably could afford the work.

However since I have been ill I don't contribute much and they seemed pleased to be getting something towards the house out of my current situation.

I am worried that this is wrong though as I am not the owner or renter of the house, is it right that it has been out in my name, could I get into trouble for this?

Note: I am in scotland.

In order to answer your question, can you tell us what the grant is called? Is it the Warm Front Grant, or is it a grant provided by your parent's utility suppliers?

There are many loft insulation offers of money off and grants on the go at the moment so without knowing which one this is, it's not possible to answer.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind.
