I have a letter from these rogues. Would it help at all if I uploaded it? Comical really. One of their services is "Baliff Collections" - their misspelling I hasten to add.

I have responded offering payments that I can afford for the original amount (I have their bank details), so I'm not remotely scared.

Text today saying to contact them to stop "current legal proceedings" - I called them and demanded the case number/court so that I could lodge my defence, they hung up.

You can check with Northampton County Court (the bulk court for the UK) to see if they have lodged an application, some companies mangle your address so you don't get the paperwork you should and they get judgement by default.

A good defence can be mounted anyway, listing the paperwork trail, the attempts by you to clear the debt and basically rubbishing their claims, including the 'baliff' company.

Thanks sillygirl. I might check with the BCC for completeness, but I'm not too worried about it at this stage. I haven't seen any cases from CF1/MTC that have ended up in court yet? Plus, I told them in my letter that they should issue a claim against me if they wanted to recover their "fines" (what they actually called them....would like to see what a district judge would have to say about that anyway!).

Letter attached.

what the 'start' of legal proceedings is could be a 1001 things

nothing to do with actually 'doing' anything court wise

threat-o-gram

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
