Has anybody else received a NOA from this JCIA outfit regarding old Monument account?

monument1.jpg

Short story is

Been paying reduced payment direct to Monument since mid 2007. Have increased the amount paid a couple of times since they agreed to the plan, but they have never wrote to me begging, ever. So assumed they were happy with the situation.

This morning the above letter arrives. It says Monument on the paper, but I doubt it was sent by them. Poor photocopy /photoshop logo. return address PO box in Bellshill, only thing I know comes out of there is DCA letters.

Having had a quick sniff about I find the registered addresses and company names mentioned in the letter are all trading styles of each other?

I am wondering if I should contact Monument on the blower and see what their take on this is, as I have no intention of contacting Curcuit as suggested, they are a DCA., that I know. Could be genuine, but on the same hand could be bogus.

I had a statement from Monument only last week, no mention on that they were assigning it to any bugger else.

Even if they are genuine then they should not renege on any payment plan you have in place. .

They are American, based in Las Vegas and Scotsdale Arizona.

Appears that they started to buy debts from Monument/Barclays back in 2010 and use Circuit to collect.

I think it would be a good idea to check with Monument, before you transfer the existing payment arrangement.

We could do with some help from you.

I will see what Monument have to say, as they are the only people I am paying.

If my moneys not good enough for them and think someone else will bully me into paying more, then they can think again.

Never paid a penny to a DCA and never will, so balls in their court, take whats on offer or get now't.

Do you think JCIA have been sold the account then?

Looks like it.

Check with them. I don't think there is anything to stop Monument selling a debt on, whilst it is being repaid.

There isnt, its an asset on a balance sheet that can be sold, only requirment is under LoP Act to advise the debtor that they have a new master to obey (or not ;-) as the case may be)

Will keep any actions on hold till I have spoken to the organ grinder (Monument) I need to know if the account has been sold and not just assigned.

As I said all these companies mentioned on the NOA are all connected.

The address for the data controller for JCIA is listed at 51 Saffron Rd, but is this not Monuments address.

So why would Monument be interested if they had sold it

Its always been a grey area on WHO has to advise you the debt has been sold, is it the original or new creditor, the usual from DCA's is two letters in the same envelope, one "from" the old creditor advising its been sold and one "from" the new creditor saying welcome to their club :)

I reckon from the letter above its been sold, you should see your credit record change to the new owners name in the next month...

Worth checking all the firms mentioned in the letter have the right licences to act as they are doing, this stinks the same as the HFO web of deceit, companies to collect for other companies which are all connected by the same CEO's / addresses etc etc.

Ask for anything Monument quote to you on the phone to be put in writing to you also.

Well been on the phone to Monument. Numpty on the phone hadn't got a clue what I was talking about. A supervisor is supposed to be ringing me back before 5pm.

Mmmm wel'll see.

Shadow I have checked out the licenses as you suggested, Curcuit Financial Solutions is the trading style of three different CCA licence numbers

0597542

0614933

0632075

Doesn't seem to have its own.

Did notice it is a trading style of both the old owner (CompuCredit) and the new (?) owners JCIA.

The link to CFS from JCIA site

http://www.circuitfinancialsolutions.co.uk/

shows a different CCA number for CompuCredit which doesn't seem to exist.

Monument Card Service is a trading style of CompuCredit.

Services for JCIA are provided in the UK by CompuCredit.

So looks to be just a pass the parcel routine.

So as you so rightly put it "stinks of the HFO wed of deceit"

this debt on your cra file alf?

my mrs had a monument ac the same time

and it went to rephys too.

i reclaiming the penalty charges & the ppi

and never heard from them again.

the OD was some £7500

there was a time in 2005 when she took the card out that made all the monument CCA's totally un-en

they wrote the debt off.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi DX

Yes shows on credit file marked monthly as 'AR' since Feb 2007 owner Raphaels Bank

There is no charges or PPI on the account. They were quite understanding rearly when I rang them way back 2007. Accepted the token payment which I have never missed and I never heard from them again until now. Frozen all interest too since 2007.

Account was opened Feb 2001. Can't remember if it was online or mail shot in the post. It was part of Barclays when I opened the account, so more than likely no enforceable agreement.

Should have let them default the account first rearly before making the payment arrangement. It would be due to come off next year. These 'AR' (arrangement to pay) markers that are on the CRA files will be around for ever, stuffing up my credit rating. If they default it now, will be another black hole in the file for 6 years.

But that lack of insight was in the days before CAG devine intervention.

Will have to see how it pans out

  • 1 year later...

Hi Alf, Is there anymore to tell about this?

I've had a letter today regarding an old Monument card and it advises that JC has assigned it's rights to Compucredit.

Will be digging my file out to see when I last heard anything.
