I've recently moved from the yorkshire bank to the co-op. I bought some euros last week from the post office using my co-op visa debit card and have just noticed they have charged me £8.50 for this service. I'm pretty annoyed because it was my money that bought the euro's, it was not borrowed on a credit card. I don't remember ever being charged for using my old maestro card to buy currency. Is there anything I can do? (other than move banks again!)

Many thanks

The same thing happened to me last year. Apparently it's normal practice.

The bank told me that when you use a debit card at any Bureau-de-Change in England, they treat it is if you are abroad and charge accordingly.

Cop-out. Just another excuse to charge us for using our own money.

Another disgusting bank trick.

Best to draw cash and then buy the euros.
