I do not know your name

I do not know your name, but I know you died

I do not know from where you came, but I know you died

Your uniform, branch of service, it matters not to me

Whether Volunteer or Conscript, or how it came to be

That politicians' failures, or some power-mad ambition

Brought you too soon to your death, in the name of any nation

You saw, you felt, you knew full well, as friend and foe were taken

By bloody death, that your life too, was forfeit and forsaken

Yet on you went and fought and died, in your close and private hell

For Mate or Pal or Regiment and memories never to tell

It was for each other, through shot and shell, the madness you endured

Side by side, through wound and pain, and comradeship assured

No family ties, or bloodline link, could match that bond of friend

Who shared the horror and kept on going, at last until the end

We cannot know, we were not there, it's beyond our comprehension

To know the toll that battle brings, of resolute intention

To carry on, day by day, for all you loved and hoped for

To live in peace a happy life, away from bloody war

For far too many, no long life ahead, free of struggle and pain and the gun

And we must remember the price that was paid, by each and every one

Regardless of views, opinions aside, no matter how each of us sees it

They were there and I cannot forget, even though I did not live it

I do not know your name, but I know you died

I do not know from where you came, but I know you died.

I saw a boy marching, with medals on his chest, He marched alongside Soldiers, marching six abreast, He knew it was Remembrance Day, he walked along with pride, And did his best to keep in step with the soldiers by his side. And when the march was over the boy looked rather tired. A soldier said. "Whose medals son?" to which the boy replied,, "They belong to my Dad, but he didn't come back. He die......d out in Afghanistan , up on a Helmand Track". The boy looked rather sad, and a tear came to his eye, But the soldier said, "Don't worry son, I'll tell you why," He said, "Your dad marched with us today, all the bloomin way, All us soldiers knew he was here, it's like that on Remembrance Day." The boy looked rather puzzled he didn't understand But the soldier went on talking, and started to wave his hand, "For this great land we live in, there's a price we have to pay, To keep our Country free, and fly our flag today. Yes we all love fun and merriment in this country where we live, But the price was that some soldier his precious life must give, For you to go to school, my son, and worship God at will. Somebody had to pay the price, so our soldiers paid the bill. Your dad died for us my son, for all things good and true. And I hope you can understand these words I've said to you". The boy looked up at the soldier and after a little while, His face changed expression, and he said with a beautiful smile, "I know my dad marched here today, this our Remembrance Day, I know he did, I know he did, all the bloomin way!....... RESPECT To our Fallen Comrades, Respect to those that have fought For our nation. Lest We Forget!

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.

I am not there. I did not die.

Remember them all

Over the hills and far away

My heart lives in a far distant memory

Thinking of things long past

Seeing the tall ships and flags half mast

Remember all the loved ones who were lost

Fighting for our freedom is what it cost

Fields of crosses and names unknown

Families bereaved , all waiting alone

Poppies of red, like their blood

Sacrifices made, and was it ever understood?

Pray for them all and never forget

They died to save us and we never met

Let us remember them one and all

For without them, would we be here at all?

Take the time to stop and thank them

It didn't matter if they were boys or men

Please be proud of what they have done

And let peace surround us, one by one
