Hello everyone, i have several debts that have became unmanigable due to changes in circumstances (wonga, toothfairy, payday express, quickquid, and 2 other non payday debts) i have began setting up a debt management plan with cccs online this weekend. I have emailed creditors and posted letters to them all telling them this.

However, i am not looking forward to the prospect of them telephoning me at work, i probabally wont get the call as it is taken at the security hut and we are not allowed personal calls at work, as working in a factory enviroment it is not practicle, but i have images of all 4 payday collectors phoning 3 times a day for me at work and my employer getting rather angry, has anyone had any sucess in dealing with this? if i take the call at home will they not try my work contact number? any help or experiance would be truly gratefull, thanks niel

Hi Niel,

Try not to stew - we're in the same boat I recently come out about all 5 of my payday loans - dreaded default day done same as you sent of the letters before the day and then emailed a copy to where I could

To be honest only 2 of the PDL have rung me whilst at work (Quick Quid def didn't) and I do always try and answer my mobile or other phone numbers if not they will ring you at work when they can get away with it - if they get your letter before default day that will also help

If they do get nasty you've always got the option of hanging up or terminating the call - I try n remember this from school day sticks and stones may break my bones but words never will

Your free to look through my other posts on pay day loans and I'm happy to help

Happy to share my experience but for your own protection, please check and double check what myself and other Caggers inform

Hi Niel,

I have just donr the same things as you as going on a DMP with CCCS, how are you finding it and did the payday loan companies phone your work ? I have payday loans with Capital finance one, mini credit txt loan quick quid, lending strean and a couple of others and i too am worried about them phoning my work and saying to the receptionist there payday loans as everyone speaks at my work.

Does anyone know if these companies phone constant ?

Hopefully your dmp will have advised the lenders to contact themselves and not you.

A telephone harassment letter wouldn't do any harm just to be on the safe side.

When quickquid constantly phoned me at work, they had the decency to tell my colleagues that they were calling RE: a personal matter lol. They did tell my colleagues they were from a company called 'QQ'

It never rains but it pours...

In my experience, Wonga were ok, once I explained the situation they backed off straight away and were happy to deal via e-mail.

Payday Express weren't helpful as they fell back on their argument that it's in their T&C's they can use all means possible to "contact debtors to ensure a satisfactory solution". Or, phone and phone and phone!! Certainly recommend the good advice listed above to register a complain to OFT if they decide to ignore the set guidelines. Keep a log of when you send it, make sure it's recorded delivery and also send a copy by e-mail. Keep a log of any calls you receive as evidence of them believing the OFT guidelines don't apply to them!!

Also, when Payday Express/Castlebridge ignored my requests (after 4 weeks) I raised their conduct to FOS. They're still dealing, but knowing their conduct has been referred to FOS, Payday Express haven't phoned me since. Not sure if this is coincidental, however the £500.00 fee FOS will charge Payday Exp is far more than the balance under dispute.
