Debt bought by collection agency, how do I get refunds?

I had a Barclays current account, some of this debt was charges but not all of it.

 

They sold this debt to a collection company who now own it (Yes sold, not just being managed by). I have been paying the debt collection agency monthly.

 

What do I do to get the unlawful charges credited or refunded?

 

Can I still sue Barclays for making the charges, even though they sold the debt to another company (and it is still being repayed)?

Can you please give more details - age of debt etc.

I too had a barclays account whilst I was a student which had so many fee's added on I didnt know where I was. I think the originally debt was 1200 but ended up well over 2k. I recieved a default because of this and the debt was obtained by a debt collection agency. Sorry if I have missed previous information on this site. Only found it a few hours ago and have been trying to catch as much info as poss. My debt originated in 2000-2001 and was taken over by the debt collection during 2002. I started repayments in 2003/2004. This is a huge financial burden and at 23 would like this paying off as soon as so my credit history can be repaired! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So you have done a IVA deal type thingy?

 

should make no knowing difference, apart from if the charges are still standing thats more interest

Please will you read around the forum and then start a specific thread under the appropritae bank forum.

 

However, you will definetely have to get a full pictire of your doebt and how it arose. There may be some aspects of which are quite legit.
