Hi there, I came across this site when googling wonga and saw some really good advice.

I have had a payday loan from wonga since last year, first it started off at 100.00, then month by month, it was eating into my wages by having to pay back the interest and here I am now with a 1000.00 loan with 270.00 interest. Next month Im going to have to pay back nearly 1300.00 and my outgoings are already 1287 a month so if i pay back the loan to wonga with the interest Im not going to be able to afford my own bills, or have any money left over for spending as Im losing 300 pound a month with them. Now at the point where I have been physically sick, I know its my own fault for dealing with them in the first place, I cant think about anything else and I dont know what to do its scaring the hell out of me. I have read that its a good idea to change bank accounts which I may look into doing today. My only concerns are if I dont pay them next month, or perhaps just offer them a smaller payment of 200-300 pound what will happen in terms of interest is my loan of 1000 going to turn into a loan of 4000 that will be impossible for me to pay?

I have looked on their site for advice if you cannot make payments but they dont seem to have any info and Im scared to call them until I have clear in my mind what is the best route to take.

Thanks

Ignoring it is the worst thing you can do. Have a chat with them and see if you can sort out a payment plan before you get into late payments which will make them less inclined to help you out.

They have been pretty fair to me in the past so i don't see why they shouldn't be fair to you.

Get an alternative basic bank account set up with Halifax or Co op NOT A CURRENT ACCOUNT and get your salary transferred into that in case their system tries to take the money.

Try emailing Errol Damelin who is the top man at Wonga, keep everything in email and don't make an offer you can't keep.

They should accept about £300 a month - contact them before you default, people are saying they have improved but it is best to keep everything in email just in case.

For some reason they wont enter into repayment plans until you default, if you phone them they will tell you this, they can be a real pain so keep every email sent or received for any future problems

Hi Jax

I too had probems paying back wonga, i emailed errol damelin and got a response from a lady called victoria mukungu, she was really helpful even emailing me ove rthe weekends and outside of business hours to help re arrage a payment plan, even when a plan was set up and wonga debited my account of extra payments she arranged t get them re credited staright back to me, she even got my cards removed from their systems. she was a really helpful woman so i suggest emailing her with the problem send an income and expenditure and see what comes back, i have wongas bank details if you need them.

Here is her email address:

victoria.mukungu @quickbridge. co.uk (WITHOUT SPACES)

hope this helps

Just wanted to add - I think it is best to make sure you do not hand over your card details to Wonga nor any other payday loan company. Best to make all payments via standing orders or bank transfers.

There are anough examples of payday loan companies taking what they like once they have your card details. And the chances of them repaying you anything is 0!

Make monthly payments via standing order - keep your card details safe.

Hope this helps.
