Hi OH has a Navman satnav which he bought at the beginning of April. On the 2nd time that he used it the screen cracked. It's been returned to Navman who say that excessive force was used to crack the screen and it will cost Β£70 to repair.

OH is adamant that he did not use excessive force; ithas not een dropped and has been stored securely.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hmmm, layman versus expert. You have a hard one here as they know the amount of force it would take to break it. How do you prove that it just broke without provocation.

I think you have an extremely steep uphill task to get any recompence.

As the manufacturer has said abuse, you will need some proof that it just broke to be able to press a claim of not fit for purpose.

The only way I can see for you to carry this forward is to scrutinise the instruction manual and if there is no mention of being careful using the screen, or any instruction that you must only use a softpad, or words to that effect, then you might have a claim.
