Basically I had to pay a bill into TalkTalk HSBC account. I never received a receipt. I have been told I should have. I went to HSBC they gave me a reference number to give but TalkTalk are saying I need proof of payment to fax them it.

The payment was put in 22nd September, 14:06, the bank told me that last week. If I asked them for proof of payment to send to TalkTalk, would they be able to give me it?

Hi reality , welcome to the forum ....:)

If HSBC gave you a reference no . , I'd give the reference no . to TalkTalk and let them trace it ........ you could also ask HSBC (quoting the ref no ) to confirm payment and receipt .....they should chase it for you .

Come back if you're still in doubt or if that doesn't work ... someone will answer ..... :)

I don't see why not, if the Bank have a record of a payment you have made they should be able to give you some sort of proof that they have that payment.

It may not be the standard receipt because the computers may only be set up to issue this when you actually pay but they should be able to confirm payment even if its a letter on HSBC letterhead.
